My Sons' Board Game Raised Over $80,000 for BLM

'Rap Godz' Raised Some Bling
for Black Lives Matter

Last week something very special happened for our family.

Through pledges made by by themselves and other members of a small but progressive board game creator community, my sons Omari Akiel (Dennis) and Fahamu Dennis parlayed a sellout of the remaining several hundred copies of the kickstarter edition of their Rap Godz  board game into over $80,000 in financial support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Both Fahamu and Omari are alumni of St. Augustine High School. Omari lives in Durham. Fahamu lives here.

The link below is to a Durham North Carolina article about Omari and Fahamu's double edged accomplishment, and relates the details about how the board game community supported Black Lives Matter by supporting the only black owned board game about this popular aspect of modern Black culture.

Board Game Brotha's (their company) has completely emptied their New York warehouse, and only a few games are available at board game parlors and other small outlets around the country. Locally, a few may be available at Peaches Records or the D4 Game Cafe.

It seems that the 10 copies I purchased at the beginning (and encouraged you to do so) have become genuine collectibles, especially now a part of the Black Lives Matter legacy.

To those of you who got your Rap Godz game(s) because you supported their dream, thank you, because without your faith in and support of their pioneering effort, none of this would have happened... for them... or Black Lives Matter.
