"Downtown" Anthony Brown Celebrated on The Westbank

On September 19, 2016, Anthony Brown's spirit and contribution to music was celebrated at the Four Columns at Smooth Jazz Sunday. Master and accomplished guitarist Anthony Brown has been a long time member of Clark Knighten's 4x4 Connection band, and played with many others, Marva Wright, The Dixie Cups, Allen Toussaint, Irma Thomas and onstage with the likes of Smokey Robinson to mention a few. "Downtown" Anthony Brown stayed busy because he was as comfortable and accomplished playing gospel as he was playing jazz, funk or rock. Anthony passed after a long fought battle with cancer on September 12th.

Harold Jackson, Danon Smith, David Badie, Julius Handy, Alonzo Bowens, Michael Ward, Gina Brown, Rick Jones Rachal Cook, Renetta Maze, J Diamond Washington, Earl Smith, Shannon Hamilton, Detroit Brooks, Bryan Murry, Terrance Taplan, Ashanti Bailey, Sylvester Andrews, Clark Knighten, Lance Ellis, all showed up and showed out to celebrate their peer and brother Anthony H Brown. and a room filled with guest came to their feet to acknowledge the spirit and contribution of this beautiful man and great artist.
